Aerosol generators extinguish a fire chemically and physically by breaking the chain of chemical reactions that sustain the fire and absorbing free radicals, such as hydrogen and hydroxyl molecules, that are important for the fire to continue. This is done by removing free radicals, from the combustion reaction, by binding to aerosol particles. Aerosol fire extinguishers do not significantly reduce the oxygen level in the environment and can therefore be used safely in areas where humans or other living things are present, without posing a risk to them.

Within enclosed volumes, electrical panels and server chambers, HAFEX Hybrid is unlike gasses. It is non-conductive, non-toxic, non-pressurized and environmentally friendly. HAFEX produces both K-Type and S-Type condensed aerosol fire extinguishers. The S-Type “Hybrid” aerosols, combines with the high fire extinguishing and spreading performance of K-Type aerosols. The hydrophobic and non-corrosive properties of the S-Type condenses aerosols to high humidity, for use in environments containing sensitive electronic equipment. Both K-Type and S-Type condensed aerosols units are ATEX (Explosion Proof) Certified.

The K-Type’s main oxidant is Potassium Nitrate and the S-Type’s main oxidant is Strontium Nitrate.
